Description

The Golden Rectangular French Crystal Chandelier is crystal for people who want it over a dining table but have an 8-foot ceiling that rules out every pendant chandelier. A gold metal frame defines a clean architectural rectangle — Small (35.4") or Large (43.3") — every surface within it packed with K9 crystal that refracts and multiplies the light into a long, shallow bar lighting a table end to end, not just the center — French brasserie density in a modern low-profile form. Included E14 LEDs (3W, 3000K) are replaceable and dimmable.

At just 12.6 inches tall — one of the lowest-profile crystal chandeliers we sell — it reads as a crystal panel rather than a hanging fixture. On an 8-ft ceiling above a 30" table, the crystal sits about 53 inches above the tabletop, clear of seated diners. Standard box for the Small (20.5 lbs); a reinforced brace for the Large (32.0 lbs).

Design & Craftsmanship

French Tradition, Modern Restraint

Most crystal chandeliers are round and hang over a single point; this one is rectangular and designed to cover a line. The French language shows in the proportions — structured, symmetrical, dense decorative crystal, warm regal gold — but the form is distinctly modern: low profile, clean edges, no dangling crystals or ornate arms. It barely descends into the room, staying above the sightline where a traditional crystal chandelier would hang into it.

Where It Fits

6-person table (Small, 35.4"): covers a standard 60-inch table end to end, a warm luxurious canopy for every seat — and at 12.6" tall, it works with the 8-ft ceilings it was designed for.

8-person table (Large, 43.3"): covers a 72–84 inch table; the extra length ensures the end seats get full crystal light.

Kitchen island (Small or Large): the rectangular form aligns with islands — Small for 4 ft, Large for 5 ft — staying well above the workspace.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: At 12.6 inches tall, is this more of a flush mount than a chandelier? A: It is a hybrid. It hangs from a canopy on cables (like a chandelier) but sits very close to the ceiling (like a flush mount). The visual effect is a crystal panel suspended just below the ceiling rather than a traditional descending chandelier. For 8-foot ceilings, this hybrid approach is the only way to get genuine crystal overhead without losing critical headroom.
Q: Is the K9 crystal the same quality as your other crystal chandeliers? A: Yes. K9 is the same optical-grade crystal used in our Meteors, Irregular, Vintage, and other crystal fixtures. The difference is the presentation — instead of individual crystals hanging on cables, these crystals are densely set within a gold frame, creating a continuous crystal surface rather than separated pendants.
Q: Can I use two Small fixtures side by side over a very long table? A: Yes. Two Small fixtures (each 35.4" long) spaced 6–10 inches apart provide 78–80 inches of total crystal coverage — ideal for a 10+ person dining table. Total cost: $1,350 for two fixtures with matched gold finish and crystal quality. Discuss the spacing with your electrician for a balanced appearance.
Q: How does the gold finish compare to brass? A: The gold finish is a warm, polished metallic — brighter and more reflective than brushed brass, with a richer yellow tone. It is the most luxurious and traditional-leaning metallic finish in our catalog. If your room has brass hardware, the gold finish is close but slightly warmer and shinier. They pair well together without being an exact match.
Q: Is this suitable for a formal dining room? A: Yes — this is one of the most formal-dining-appropriate fixtures in our catalog. The dense K9 crystal, gold frame, French-inspired proportions, and linear form are specifically suited to set dinner parties, holiday meals, and occasions where the dining table is the center of the event. The crystal sparkle enhances table settings, glassware, and food presentation.
Q: The Large at 32 lbs — does my ceiling need reinforcement? A: A standard residential junction box supports up to 50 lbs in most codes, but the 32-lb Large version is near the practical limit for standard boxes. We recommend a reinforced box or fan-rated brace for the Large version — a 15-minute addition during installation that ensures long-term security. Your electrician can assess and install the appropriate support.
Q: Does this work with 220V in Europe or Australia? A: Yes. Supports 110–240V worldwide.
