Description

Most staircase chandeliers descend straight. This one spirals. The black chrome frame traces a helix from the ceiling into midair, each faceted glass diffuser at a different angle along the curve, so the light doesn't fall — it rotates. From the bottom of a stairwell it corkscrews away from you, each facet scattering light sideways onto the wall: kinetic though nothing moves. Choose 16, 28 or 36 lights; each 3W LED runs 2800K, warmer and more amber than the usual 3000K, and is dimmable through a built-in triac driver.

This fixture demands height: the 16-light needs 19 ft+ ceilings, the 28-light 22 ft+, and the 36-light 27 ft+ (it hangs 236 inches). All versions need a reinforced brace rated for at least 75 lbs; the 36-light (67.9 lbs) should mount directly to a joist, and the 28- and 36-light need scaffolding or a lift — 2–3 hours.

The black finish absorbs the eye first — the frame nearly disappears against a dark ceiling or shadowed stairwell, leaving the glass facets floating in midair like captured starlight twisting in slow motion. Dimmed to 30% at night, the spiral becomes a soft vertical ribbon that guides you between floors without harsh glare on any step. Even switched off, the faceted glass catches natural stairwell light.

Where It Fits

Open staircases and three-story foyers: centre the canopy over the widest part of the stairwell opening. The spiral follows the visual line of a curved or straight staircase and reads from the ground floor, the landing and the upper hallway at once.

Vaulted living rooms, hotel stairwells, commercial atriums: the diffusers scatter light outward at every node, so the whole stairwell is evenly lit with no dark pockets on treads or landings.

Choosing a size: the 16-light (19.6" canopy, 137.7") suits the shortest qualifying spaces; the 36-light (31.5" canopy, 236") is built for rooms where drama is the point.

At 236 inches (19.7 feet), the 36-light Spiral Glass Pendant is designed for spaces that most standard chandeliers simply cannot fill — three-story foyers, commercial stairwells, and grand residential atriums with 27+ foot ceilings (ensuring the fixture bottom remains at least 7 feet above the lowest walkable surface). If you need even more length, contact us to discuss custom cable extensions.
Q: The color temperature is 2800K instead of the usual 3000K — what difference does that make? A: The 200K difference produces a noticeably warmer, more golden light compared to standard 3000K chandeliers. In practical terms, rooms feel more intimate and relaxed, skin tones appear warmer, and the chrome metal gains a slight amber cast rather than appearing cool and sterile. If you prefer a crisper, more neutral tone, our Crystal Raindrop or Frosted Glass Bubble chandeliers use 3000K.
Q: The fixture says "dimmable with standard dimmer" but the dimmer is not included — what should I buy? A: Any standard leading-edge or trailing-edge dimmer works, including Lutron Diva, Leviton Decora, or Legrand models available at any hardware store for $15–$30. For smart home integration, use a Lutron Caseta or TP-Link Kasa smart dimmer for voice control through Alexa, Google Home, or Apple HomeKit. Your electrician can install the dimmer at the same time as the fixture.
Q: Can this be installed in a stairwell with a sloped ceiling at the top? A: The round canopy can be mounted on a flat ceiling surface. Q: How do I clean glass diffusers that are 15+ feet above the floor? A: For routine maintenance, a telescoping microfiber duster reaches from a step ladder. For annual deep cleaning, consider a motorized chandelier lift (aftermarket, not included) that lowers the entire fixture to a working height. The glass panels are smooth and non-porous — dust does not adhere strongly and a dry cloth is sufficient for most cleaning.
Q: What if I want the look but my ceiling is only 12 feet? A: The 16-light version hangs 137.7 inches (11.5 feet), which would leave only 6 inches of clearance on a 12-foot ceiling — too low for most spaces. However, if the fixture is centered over a stairwell opening where people do not walk directly underneath, it can work. Alternatively, the cables can be shortened to reduce the overall height, though this compresses the spiral effect.
